In 2007, the value of Québec exports to Belgium totalled $536M, making Belgium Québec’s 11th largest export market.

The main export products were: zinc ore (15%), soy beans (8.8%), planes and other aircraft (8.3%).

Québec imports from Belgium amounted to $755M. Québec is Belgium’s leading export market in Canada. Belgium is Québec’s 8th largest supplier among European Union countries and its 21st largest worldwide.

Products topping the list of manufactured goods imported to Québec are: motor gasoline (37%), new passenger vehicles (5.7%) and dosage form drugs (5%).

In addition, Belgian companies in Québec and Québec companies in Belgium contribute to the creation and maintenance of thousands of jobs. Key players include Bombardier, SNC Lavalin and CAE (Aeronautics) in Belgium and Inbev, Beakaert, Katoen Natie, Sonaca and GSK in Québec.

Since Belgium’s three Regions – Brussels-Capital, Flanders and Wallonia – have full jurisdiction over their economic development and foreign trade, Québec has maintained economic relations with each of them for many years.
