The International Boston Seafood Show (IBSS) is recognized as one of North America’s major trade events. This year’s edition was held in Boston from March 11 to 13, 2012. The Québec Pavilion, located in the heart of the exhibition area, served as the main gathering point for presenting and promoting seafood products from Québec.
The Québec Pavilion consisted of six Québec companies, including three under the banner of the U.S. Distributor Great Northern Products (GNP):
- Cusimer Inc. (GNP)
- Les Crustacés des Monts Inc. (GNP)
- Dégust-Mer Inc.
- Fumoir Grizzly Inc.
- Poissonnerie de Cloridorme Inc. (GNP)
- Unipêche MDM Ltd.
Tastings and business partnerships
Christian Lévêque, chef at the Ritz Carlton in Montréal, was on hand to provide tastings of Québec seafood products to the show’s many visitors. In addition, representatives from some 20 Québec companies also attended the event as visitors and were able to forge ties with buyers from across the U.S.
For the past 22 years, the MAPAQ has been participating in this event and lending support to Québec companies at the show.
The IBSS is recognized as the largest international fish and seafood show in North America. The event attracts 17,000 buyers and sellers from over 90 countries annually and gives them access to an impressive variety of seafood products, services and state-of-the-art equipment.
Close to 80% of marine products exported from Québec are sold in New England – the largest market for these products. The IBSS therefore provides an excellent opportunity for Québec companies to expand their business ties and find out about new trends.
