Aliments Prolimer honoured with 2012 Award for Excellence in Agri-Food Export
Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ), Pierre Corbeil, presented the Québec Award for Excellence in Agri-Food Export to Said Chergui, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aliments Prolimer Inc., during the Canadian Agri-Food Export Gala at SIAL Canada 2012. This award is presented to a person who has shown excellence by his or her achievements and dynamism in exporting Québec agri-food products.
In 2009, Said Chergui, President and Chief Executive Office of the Zinda Group, acquired Aliments Prolimer Inc., a Québec manufacturer and distributor of seafood products. In 2011, the company sold over 35% of its products on foreign markets, mainly in the United States, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The commercial success of the company depends largely on the creativity of its R&D team.
Mr. Chergui is also very involved in his community. Among other achievements, he established a partnership between Hôpital Sainte-Justine and the Association des Bonnes Œuvres du Cœur in Morocco, which, in the course of four missions to Morocco, made it possible to perform over 200 operations on children with heart problems.
