Québec productions to tour 30 countries

The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) will award grants totalling $1,260,000 to fund 69 touring projects filed by 66 organizations at the end of the Programme d’aide à la diffusion hors Québec registration deadline.

Organizations receiving grants come from five major arts sectors:

  • Circus arts (4)
  • Multidisciplinary arts (2)
  • Dance (16)
  • Music (24)
  • Theatre (20)

The funded projects include Les mécaniques célestes (Théâtre des Confettis), Timber (Cirque Alfonse), Joue à Tom Waits (Orchestre d’hommes-orchestres), L’atelier (Bouge de là) and Génération 2012 (Ensemble contemporain de Montréal).

The grants will make it possible for Québec productions to be presented in 30 countries, including Germany, Belgium, China, South Korea, Croatia, Spain, the United States, France, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Russia, Slovenia and Turkey.

CALQ’s mission

The mission of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec is to support, throughout Québec, artistic and literary research, creation, experimentation, production and dissemination in the fields of the visual arts, arts and crafts, literature, performing arts, multidisciplinary arts, media arts and architectural research. It also provides funding to help showcase artists, writers, arts organizations and their works in Québec, elsewhere in Canada and abroad.
