Orizzonte Québec Biennial serves up a rich, diverse program
The program of the 8th edition of the Orizzonte Québec Biennial will include some twenty productions and activities showcasing Québec artists, artisans and companies. It will be held in a dozen Italian cities, including Rome, Milan, Naples, Bologna, Turin and Venice from September to December 2012.
“For 14 years now, the Orizzonte Québec Biennial has been a unique opportunity for the Government Office to showcase Québec’s artistic excellence and expertise with the Italian public and to strengthen its ties with Italy,” said Québec Government Representative in Italy Amalia Daniela Renosto.
Il Québec? Originale!
Québec? Original! is the theme that will serve as the common thread at this Biennial. Italians will be able to enjoy the talent of three generations of Québec fashion designers, listen to internationally renowned Québec jazzmen at the Turin Jazz Club and take in one of the performances of the Cirque du Soleil’s Alegría, which will be on tour in Pesaro, Bologna, Assago and Turin.
The festivities will continue on into 2013, giving music-lovers a chance to hear Marie-Nicole Lemieux’s operatic debut at La Scala in Milan in Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff.
Québec-Italy Joint Subcommittee (QIJSC)
The 2012 Biennial coincides with the 20th anniversary of the QIJSC, which allows Québec and Italy to strengthen their ties and exchanges through joint projects with a special focus on cooperation in the fields of the arts, culture, education, science and technology.
