The Québec Government Office in New York (DGQNY) hosted a networking event during Advertising Week 2012, a major annual international gathering of marketing and communications leaders that was held in New York City from October 1 to 5, 2012.

Some forty representatives of Québec ad agencies had an opportunity to exchange views with a wide range of communications specialists working in New York City. They also learned more about DGQNY services, including the support available from the economic team.

Promoting Québec’s creativity and avant-gardism

In her word of welcome, acting Delegate General Manon Boucher stressed the importance of the New York City market for Québec agencies. She also invited the participants to take advantage of Advertising Week to help market Québec: “I encourage you to promote the avant-gardism and creativity that are the unique signatures of Québec talent when you are drumming up business.” Ms. Boucher was very pleased to note that Québec agencies are establishing a foothold in New York City. She notably mentioned the examples of Taxi, already well established in New York City, and Sid Lee, which is in the process of setting up an office in Manhattan.

The networking activity, which was organized in collaboration with the Association of Québec Advertising Agencies, was an occasion to brainstorm business opportunities and partnerships.

DGQNY’s economic mandate includes promoting Québec’s sectors of excellence and helping companies seek out partners with a view to entering into partnerships and strategic alliances.
