Fall Québec cultural season in France

For the 4th consecutive year, the Québec Government Office in Paris (DGQP) invited its partners to attend the launch of the Québec cultural season in France on October 2.

Nearly 200 people attended a screening of Le Vendeur, a film by Sébastien Pilote, at Cinéma du Panthéon, for a glimpse of the exceptional vitality of Québec films in France.

This year, Québec films attracted over a million moviegoers in France, with Starbuck, Lawrence Anyways and Monsieur Lazhar still playing in movie theatres. “The Québec Government Office is pleased to be associated with the recent successes of Québec films at festivals and their release in theatres, and always stands ready to promote new Québec films in France, including Nuit # 1 by Anne Émond and Rebelle by Kim Nguyen,” said Québec Delegate General in Paris Michel Robitaille at the start of the evening.

He also mentioned a number of other must-attend events planned for the coming months:
  • Six Québec productions at Théâtre national de Chaillot
  • Cinéma du Québec à Paris
  • Robert Lepage’s new creation, Jeux de cartes

The evening was also an occasion to recall that Bibliothèque Gaston-Miron, which is owned by DGQP, will soon move to the Latin Quarter. Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle – Paris III President Marie-Christine Lemardeley took the stage to share her enthusiasm for the new location and said that the move will be marked by a program on the university campus celebrating Québec’s cultural and scientific prowess.
