Québec at Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2013
Québec kiosk at the Mobile World Congress
For the 8th consecutive year, the whirlwind of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the largest mobile industry exhibition in the world, swept through Barcelona from February 25 to 28, 2013. The event was held at a new venue, Fira Gran Via, a colossal site covering 240,000 square metres, twice as large as last year’s venue.
Barcelona hosted mobile industry players as they showcased all the latest trends and innovations. Once again, the exhibition posted a record-breaking number of participants, with over 70,000 attendees and 1,500 exhibitors from all over the world.
Québec makes its presence felt
Québec had its own kiosk, which was facilitated by the Ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur in collaboration with the Québec Government Office in Barcelona. Québec was represented by 27 companies seeking to network and generate new leads. For many, this was not their first time at MWC—a clear indication of their appreciation for this must-attend event that is an important platform for business development.
The Québec representatives also had the occasion to take part in a networking activity at the Québec Government Office in Barcelona. The activity was chaired by Marjolaine Ricard, the Director of the Office, who, among other things, emphasized Québec’s renowned expertise in ICT.
Barcelona, the Mobile World Capital
The excitement of MWC doesn’t end there because Barcelona will be hosting the exhibition until 2018. Barcelona has also been designated the Mobile World Capital, making it an international go-to destination for the mobile communication industry.
