Journées Québec pour l’emploi event a success

This year, Québec employers were trying to fill nearly 600 positions.

The 8th Journées Québec event, which was held on June 8 and 9 in Paris and on June 11, 2013 in Brussels, was a huge success.

This European recruitment mission allowed over 1,300 candidates to meet 36 employers from Québec. During the three days of the event, over 2,250 interviews were conducted.

While employers say they are thrilled about the growing popularity of the event and the quality of the candidates, they also enjoy the unique format and the relaxed atmosphere of the Journées Québec.

Many different positions

Many fields of activity were featured: aerospace, finance, electric engine manufacturing, mechanics, metallurgy, plastics processing, food service, health, information technology (IT), road transportation and machining. Once again, over half of the businesses and vacant positions are in the IT sector.

This year, Québec employers were trying to fill nearly 600 positions. Several businesses even made job offers right on site.

Since its creation, the Journées Québec event has made it possible for approximately 900 qualified workers to find jobs.

Québec and European partners

Journées Québec are organized by the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles in cooperation with Montréal International, Québec International, the Drummondville Economic Development Authority and Sherbrooke Innopole.

Pôle Emploi is the French partner, whereas Québec has three Belgian partners: Actiris (Brussels regional employment office), FOREM (Wallonia public employment and training service) and VDAB (Flanders employment training office).

The Québec Government Offices in Paris and Brussels also assisted with this event.
