Minister of International Relations, La Francophonie and External Trade Jean-François Lisée, accompanied by over one hundred people from the business community, academia and international cooperation organizations, led the most important mission to date by the Government of Québec in Africa from September 6 to 13.

The delegation will travel to Senegal, the Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso. “Africa today is where China was 30 years ago and India 20 years ago. The continent is undergoing very strong economic growth. With our proven expertise in energy, infrastructures, consulting engineering, research and innovation, international cooperation, education and vocational training, democracy and good governance, Québec has all the ingredients needed to become a partner with this Africa on the move,” said the Minister.

Learning about the African market

Meetings with local stakeholders and partners have also been planned for the university, union and international cooperation delegates. This multisectoral mission will also provide an opportunity for business people to build partnerships and familiarize themselves with the African market.

Mr. Lisée will hold high-level talks with political leaders such as the President and Prime Minister of Senegal, the Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast and senior officials in Burkina Faso. These meetings will help Québec strengthen its ties with the international Francophone community.
