Québec-Africa relations grow at 6th Forum Africa 2013
“There are already strong ties between Québec and Africa. We have shown our mutual interest in building stronger relations with Africa, and we are now ready to shift into high gear. We’re at the results stage," explained Minister Lisée. (photo Philippe Renault)
Jean-François Lisée, Minister of International Relations, La Francophonie and External Trade, took advantage of his attendance at the 6th Forum Africa held in Montreal from September 25 to 27 to pay tribute to the organizers for their work and celebrate the sustained growth of the African continent in the last 10 years.
“I am happy to note once again that the success of the Forum Africa shows just how interested Quebecers are in Africa and the opposite, Africa’s great interest in Québec,” stated the Minister.
Ivory Coast was honoured at the 6th Forum. Daniel Kablan Duncan, Ivorian Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy and Finance, who was also accompanied by a large delegation, gave a presentation at a lunch conference on the emergence of the Ivory Coast, one of the three countries visited by Minister Lisée during his recent mission in Africa, which led to the signing of 44 trade and institutional agreements.
Forum Africa is a biannual event organized by Afrique Expansion and the African Development Bank in collaboration with the African Business RoundTable (ABR). Its goal is to offer innovative tools and approaches to increase private investment in Africa.
