MRIFCE expertise and network: Tools for Québec’s development

The 2012-2013 annual management report of the Ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur (MRIFCE) was tabled in the National Assembly on
October 2, 2013.

The report describes the MRIFCE’s main achievements and results with respect to the commitments and strategic objectives the department set itself for the 2012-2013 year. As the MRIFCE’s main public accountability instrument, the document allows citizens to assess the department’s annual performance.

Highlights:

  • 6,396 young Quebecers took part in foreign fieldwork, 5,664 of them with LOJIQ in 61 countries and 324 of them with Québec Without Borders in 14 countries.
  • 2,158 businesses received support enabling them to contribute to Québec’s prosperity.
  • 1,915 artists, cultural organizations and cultural businesses received support enabling them to raise awareness of Québec culture.
  • 788 visibility activities were held to raise Québec’s profile.
  • 712 high-level government meetings were held with foreign decision-makers.
  • 252 cooperation projects in 19 countries received $2 million in support.
  • 225 projects were deployed to promote Québec studies.
  • 143 multilateral conferences and events were an opportunity for Québec to defend its interests and showcase its expertise.
  • 107 international solidarity projects in 19 countries received $5 million in support.
  • 98 initiatives were deployed to promote education opportunities in Québec.
