Planet Québec back at South by Southwest in 2014

For the fourth year in a row, Planet Québec will be part of the South by Southwest festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. The next edition of SXSW will be held from March 7 to 16, 2014.

The world-class festival will be an opportunity for Québec performers and multimedia businesspeople to boost Québec’s image and develop new markets, by joining together under the Planet Québec banner.

To help people get ready for the Planet Québec 2014, an information meeting for potential participants in the SXSW Music segment will be held on December 3 at 11 a.m., at the Montréal office of the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC). The meeting is aimed at all professionals and performers who are interested in taking part in the event. It will be a chance for them to find out more about SXSW and the Planet Québec deadlines.

SODEC also invites professional organizations that promote emerging music to apply to present Planet Québec showcases, with a view to maximizing their presence and that of Québec musicians at SXSW.

Multimedia businesses that are interested in taking part in Planet Québec are invited to contact Agnès Gatignol of Export-Québec, at 514-864-4168 or agnes.gatignol@mri.gouv.qc.ca

Planet Québec at SXSW is a joint initiative deployed by the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications (MCC) and the Ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur (MRIFCE), in collaboration with the Québec government office in Atlanta (DQA), SODEC, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and Les Offices jeunesse internationaux du Québec (LOJIQ).
