Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014: $1.5 million in sales for some 20 Québec businesses
Barcelona will be the venue of the MWC through 2018.
A delegation of nearly twenty Québec companies was on hand at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the mobile telephony industry’s largest trade fair, held from February 24 to 27 in Barcelona. Led by Export Québec in collaboration with the Québec Government Office in Barcelona, the mission resulted in $1.5 million in firm sales.
This year’s MWC had a record participation rate, with over 80,000 visitors and 1,800 exhibitors from all continents.
The main new items featured at this edition included “wearables” – portable devices such as smart watches and glasses, an innovative step in the world of apps.
Barcelona has been the Mobile World Capital since 2012. The title was conferred on the city by GSMA, the worldwide association of mobile operators and companies associated with this sector.
In organizing trade missions, Export Québec is pursuing its mandate to support the internationalization of businesses by helping SMEs identify potential trade fairs, achieve their goals and develop their sales in foreign markets.
