During a ceremony in Linz, Austria on April 22, Pierre Arcand, Minister of International Relations and Minister Responsible for La Francophonie, presented Kent Nagano, musical director of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM), with a symbolic baton paying tribute to the Orchestra’s first European tour under his direction. The event marked the OSM’s first concert in Linz.

Addressing an audience of political and economic leaders, Mr. Arcand described the OSM as an extraordinary ambassador that promotes Québec’s influence around the world.

"The Government of Québec became a major partner of this tour in order to promote this jewel of Québec culture. Quebecers are proud of this magnificent institution that continues to uphold a long tradition of excellence,” he added.

Mr. Arcand will also attend the OSM’s concert in Paris on April 28.

The OSM’s European tour is made possible through the financial support of various partners, including the Government of Québec.
