The Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, Pierre Arcand, is leading a trade mission with representatives from 42 Québec firms to the Paris Air Show Le Bourget from June 15 to 21. This year’s event celebrates its one hundredth anniversary. Some 2,000 exhibitors and around 400,000 visitors are expected to attend.
“In the current economic context, it is important to continue to bank on the strength of our industry, while staying the course toward recovery. That is why I will take this opportunity to improve the position of Québec firms. We will meet with the representatives of major companies from around the world in order to convince these industry leaders of the advantages of investing in Québec. We will spare no effort in supporting this industry, which has become a symbol of prosperity in Québec,” stated the Minister.
The Ministère du Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation and its partners, including Investissement Québec, the Société générale de financement, Montreal International and the Québec Government Office in Paris, will be very active in the Show Le Bourget. Aerospace and investment specialists, in addition to commercial attachés from Québec stationed in Europe, will be on site to support Québec SMEs. The objective is to develop business relations with the key actors in the industry and seal lucrative and lasting partnerships.
Québec is one of the aerospace industry’s major international hubs. With annual sales of more than $12.3 billion in 2008 and a heavy production focus on international markets, participating in events like the Show Le Bourget is of primary importance for firms in this sector.
