Following Paris in 2008, the Middle East in 2009 and Venice in 2010, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal have set their sights on China. The company will perform at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing on July 20 and 21, the Development Area Grand Theatre in Dalian on July 24 and 25 and the Guangzhou Opera House on July 30 and 31.

The dancers will present Minus One, a seven-part collage created by Ohad Naharin.

The performances in China and related master classes are part of an exchange program with Chinese cultural institutions.

The tour has been made possible by support from the Québec government office in Beijing and Canadian embassy in Beijing, and financial backing from the Québec government, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and Canada Council for the Arts.

In 1984, Les Grands Ballets became the first Canadian company to dance in China, with performances in four cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong).
