    Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Pierre Corbeil, headed an economic and political mission to Japan from March 4 to 7 with the goal of helping Québec bio-food exporters to diversify their Asian markets. The mission moved on to China, where it will continue until March 11.

    Electric vehicles: Québec’s expertise marketed in Asia

    Clément Gignac, the Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife and Minister responsible for the Plan Nord, has just announced the creation of a new joint venture between TM4, a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, and Prestolite Electric Beijing Limited (PEBL). This joint venture will market electric drivetrain systems for buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles in Asia.

    Québec-Shandong relations make economic news in China

    Québec-Shandong relations were a focal point of China’s economic news this week. The new Director of the Québec Government Office in Beijing, Daniel Dignard, alongside the Governor of Shandong, Jiang Daming, made an economic news announcement concerning Shandong Publication and Press Co. Ltd (SPPC) and Tembec. Governor Daming officially announced the launch of the SPPC, a new company that now comprises all of Shandong’s paper conversion and printing industry. The strategy is intended to boost Shandong Province’s leadership role and strengthen the current partnership with the Québec-based company Tembec.

    Québec and China strengthen their ties

    On his visit to Québec, the President of China Foreign Affairs University, ZHAO Jinjun, met with the Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, Monique Gagnon-Tremblay. As he was China’s ambassador to France until 2008, Mr. ZHAO also participated in the festivities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie.
